Have you ever wondered what the ‘i’ before any of the Apple products out there actually stands for?
Putting aside the Android vs Apple debate, there’s still a pretty good chance that you have one of these devices in your house, perhaps even in your pocket or hand at this very moment in time.
But, how much do you actually know about it?

With the iPhone now up to the 15th iteration – just announced earlier this week – there’s still a load that we don’t know about the Apple creation that helped to change the way we experience our lives.
As an aside – isn’t it strange that no-one had even heard of one of these things before 2007, but now you can’t hardly get through a day without seeing one of them?
We digress, however.

Back to how it gets the ‘i’ at the start.
A lot of people believe that it originally stood for ‘internet’.
There’s another group of people who believe it stands for ‘intelligent’.
Others still think it means ‘innovation’.

There’s more who think that it’s some kind of bizarre reference to ‘apple of my eye’, but that seems pretty unlikely, right?
So, what’s the truth?
Is it ‘indispensable’ perhaps?

The reality is that it means a few things, and we’re not just speculating here, it’s the words of former Apple boss Steve Jobs.
Before his death, Jobs revealed what the ‘i’ in iMac actually stood for, and we’ll have to assume it’s the same thing.
He said that it meant ‘internet’, ‘individual’, ‘instruct’, ‘inform’, and 'inspire’.
That said, he also mentioned that it could mean a ‘personal pronoun’, or ‘instruction’ as in education.

Ultimately, that means that we don’t have a great answer for you, but at least you can sort of make up your own mind on it.
Whilst you’re at it, you might think about whether you’d like to fork out for a new iPhone, as the 15th version is set to come out, featuring the ‘biggest update to the device in three years’.
On September 12, new Apple supremo Tim Cook brought out the new device and explained some of the key differences to expect this time.
It’s got a larger screen, to start with.
That screen is apparently really tough, too.
The camera is now adaptive as well, detecting whether someone is in shot and switching to portrait mode for you.
There’s other features, too.
Such as a mode to filter out background noise from videos to focus on the speaker, and – crucially for many Apple enthusiasts – a USB-C charging cable point.
This is to comply with an EU law requiring all devices to have a uniform charging port by 2024.
The iPhone 15 starts at $799 and the iPhone 15 Plus is $899, which is actually the same price of last year's models in the States.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were also announced during the event today, boasting an A17 Pro chip.
Price-wise, the iPhone 15 Pro will set you back $999, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max costing $1,199.
It won't be long until folks can get their hands on the latest offering, as they are available to buy on 22 September.
