I'm ashamed to admit that, as an Apple fanboy, I only noticed this feature the other day, though it seems I am not alone.
A load of iPhone users have been left mind-blown after learning what you can actually do with that line at the bottom of your screen.
So, unless you have an iPhone SE (2022), or anything older than an iPhone X (2017), you will not have a home button on your iPhone.
For the first time in its line-up, the tech giants got rid of the home button when the iPhone X came out in 2017 - and it took a lot of getting used to.

Before, you would just press the home button on your device if you wanted to close down an app, but now you have to swipe upwards on the screen.
The home button was also used to unlock your phone with Touch ID.
Since then, Touch ID has been replaced by Face ID, and has proved to work pretty seamlessly in all fairness.

“For more than a decade, our intention has been to create an iPhone that is all display. The iPhone X is the realisation of that vision,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer at the time.
“With the introduction of iPhone ten years ago, we revolutionised the mobile phone with Multi-Touch. iPhone X marks a new era for iPhone - one in which the device disappears into the experience.”
Philip Schiller, Apple’s former senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, added: “iPhone X enables fluid new user experiences - from unlocking your iPhone with Face ID, to playing immersive AR games, to sharing Animoji in Messages - it is the beginning of the next ten years for iPhone.”

Now, after all these years, many iPhone users have only just realised that you can switch between apps via that line at the bottom of your screen.
If you swipe left, or right, directly on the line, you can move between apps.
Whereas normally, we would swipe upwards to see what apps are open and go from there.
It's honestly a bit of a life saver if you have a lot of apps open.

"How did I not know this?" one iPhone user said on Instagram.
"Never knew that," another commented.
"I'm new to iPhone thanks for this," a third added.
Remember, if your iPhone still has a home button, you will not be able to do this.

But for the rest of us, it's better late than never I guess.
