A hacker has revealed how he can access computers with nothing but a cable.
Hearing about the dark underworld of the internet, such as the horrors of the dark web and how malware makes its way into our tech, can be quite terrifying.
However, listening to 'ethical' hackers explain how everything works can go a long way to making us more vigilant about our online security, though finding out just how easy it is to get hacked might make you want to through your laptop in the bin.

Bizarrely, all you need is a cable, and you can get into any system - if you're skilled enough, that is.
First, let's get some tech-speak out of the way.
The hacker explains that the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) in the cable allows him to hack any system, as there it will wirelessly connect him to the laptop/PC that it is plugged into.

They can come in any form, whether it be USB, USB-C, or even traditional iPhone cables.
Mike Grover is a security researcher and InfoSec expert, and created the powerful O.MG Cable, which is what he explains as a guest on the Shawn Ryan show.
The malicious cable allows him to record keystrokes, and essentially take the device over with remote commands.

Opening up on how it works, Grover explained that it does 'literally anything I could do sitting at the computer, at the keyboard, whether that's implanting malware or whatever it may be'.
The tiny implant allows him to access the connected device from up to 300 feet away, as it creates a Wi-Fi hotspot to access.
He went on: "Swap out a (USB) cable and this can now intercept the keystrokes which is really good," adding that he also obtains passwords easily, saying while you could call the person up and threaten them, there is a more effective way with his cable.

"You just pull it right off the lines, they're going to type that password every single time they log into the computer, you remotely see that, you
rebuild a new payload," Grover said.
"Maybe when they go to lunch in the evening when you know they're not at the machine anymore, it's just going to type in that password automatically unlock the machine and then do all the nefarious things you want it to," he revealed.
It's really that easy.

Just buy your cable from authorised resellers and install malware protection - it's for the best.
