iPhone users are currently raving about the latest iOS update thanks to a major change Apple has made to one of the apps.
Now usually a notification to update our phone's operating system is a pre-emptive groan.
However one of the newest features on iOS 18 will have iPhone users willing to forgive Apple's former transgressions thanks to the addition of one small feature.

What is the change you ask? Well, it's all to do with the calculator app.
Now this may not sound like much at first, but how many times has doing a series of calculations on your phone been derailed by pressing the wrong number.
Or perhaps you mistakenly press 'subtract' instead of 'add' when working out a bill with friends at a restaurant.

It's a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things sure, but it sure is annoying when you're in a hurry.
If this has ever happened to you then good news - as Apple's newest iOS update will feature a backspace button on the calculator.
A bunch of Redditors who were among those to have access to Apple's public beta pointed out the preview, with the update set to receive a wider rollout in September.

"Hands down the best iOS addition," one user wrote, adding: "How many flipping years did we have to wait for a backspace on the calculator."
"Typical Apple — takes them sometimes decades to add the most common sense functionality - and then sell it as though it’s some great innovation," a second person wrote.
However several more tech-savvy users were quick to point out that the Apple calculator already has a backspace option, with iPhone users simply having to swipe left on their screens in order to remove the mistyped number.
To be fair, this isn't a feature which is well advertised by the tech giant and would also explain why they're adding a more obvious back button.

"I feel like this has changed just because so few people knew you could swipe to delete," one user noted.
After learning about the swiping function, another wrote: "Holy hell why was this not made more obvious?! I've had an iPhone since it came out, and it took all these years for me to find this."
For those less impressed by a calculator backspace button, Apple iOS 18 is also set to debut new feature 'Apple Intelligence' which has been described as a 'personal intelligence system' for phones, computers and tablets.

Siri is also expected to undergo a facelift in the update.
However it might be worth holding out on downloading the beta as the company has warned users that it could introduce various 'teething problems' onto their device.
There's also bad news for older iPhone users, as models will also be phased out during the next iOS update.
