Time travel enthusiast says machine can be made but passengers face a dark fate

A time travel enthusiast has revealed how a time machine can be made, but passengers hoping to go in will have to think wisely.

A time travel enthusiast may just have found a way to create a time machine, but passengers that go inside it face a dark fate.

The idea of a time machine was discussed on the Time Travel Facebook page, which boats a healthy 32.5k members.

In the social media group, many ideas are discussed surrounding time travel, with many of them being outlandish and instantly dismissed.

However, one recent post certainly garnered plenty of interaction, with a member asking the group what would be needed to create a time machine.

Facebook user Aaron Yohannan asked: "What materials, energy, and budget would you need to make a real time machine that lets you travel into the past and the future and back to now if you want?"

Fellow time enthusiast Alex Polischuk responded to Aaron with how the machine can be done, and the price it would cost to make it a reality.

He said: "I've tried to tentatively calculate the budget; $100M might suffice (it's very cheap, actually). The materials: might be superconducting magnets (but it's unclear yet) + what a spaceship is made of (however, without boosters and maybe with not so sophisticated communication systems).

"The energy: if magnets are used, than this energy amount can be assessed in teslas. Optimization might reduce this amount to quite a modest one (5-10 T, but it's unknown yet). This work is being conducted now, however, it's done for the space industry (faster than light motion - and such a craft can be used as a time machine)."

It might sound all impressive, but Alex warned that his design may lead to passengers using the machine never returning to the present day and would effectively have to say goodbye to their loved ones.

Dark fate awaits passengers that use the machine.

He continued: "BUT: you are likely be doomed to stay in the past, because a parallel history will split off due to your interference with the event flow (then the main question is how to get back to the present the machine itself; if this can be done, it's already OK: some people will want to 'emigrate' to the past."

In other time travel news, a self-professed time traveller from the year 2671 has claimed the next few months are going to be quite disastrous.

According to them, aliens will crash onto Earth in a giant meteor on 8 December, in what would be a pretty fitting end to 2022.
