Calling all adrenalin junkies, a new Alton Towers rollercoaster that’s unlike any other in the world, has been given an official launch date.
The highest topspin ride of its kind, the Toxicator towers over the theme park at a whopping 78ft, all thanks to its 16ft elevated platform. In a 'world first', family and friends can watch the ride unfold from directly underneath the massive rollercoaster, and fans have been treated with a first look at the attraction this morning (Friday February 21) ahead of its spring opening.
According to Alton Towers, the Toxicator will ‘whip up a dizzying vortex of fear’, as riders will be hung in suspense and then spun into a ‘whirlwind of excitement’.
To add to the drama, green water fountains will dramatically shoot up around the attraction, as you’re spun high into the sky.

The new ride can hold more than 500 riders per hour and its unique design is one of only two similar coasters in Europe. If you’re keen to give it a go, you must be over 1.4m tall to get involved.
Alton Towers has shared a preview of the ride in action on YouTube and Brits have rushed to share their excitement (and fear).
“Alton, yet again you have pulled off something incredible, can't wait to ride!” one wrote.
Another said, “I've never ridden a top spin, or any inverting flat ride for that matter, I may have to be brave and face my fear on Toxicator sometime this year!”

A third added: “What a ride this will be!! Can't wait to ride!”
Others are a little apprehensive of the terrifying-looking ride, as one social media user admitted: “I am petrified!”
Speaking about the new attraction, Bianca Sammut, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said: “We’re excited to be giving fans a flavour of the truly ‘spincredible’ power of Toxicator.”
