A British teenager has died after reportedly falling from a hotel balcony while on holiday in Ibiza.
Emma Ramsay, 19, from Scotland, is reported to have died following the incident in the San Antonio area of the Mediterranean island on Tuesday (20 August) morning.
The teenager, who lived in Hamilton in South Lanarkshire, had been uploading posts of her holiday on social media, writing that she was 'obsessed with this place'.
According to the Daily Record, the talented law student fell from the sixth floor of the Hotel Vibra District.
Paramedics were reportedly called to the four-star seafront hotel shortly after 3am. She was reportedly declared dead at the scene.
The headteacher at Ramsey's former school St John Ogilvie High said they were 'saddened at the heartbreaking news'.
Lorna Lawson said: "Emma was an incredibly kind, hardworking, bright and talented pupil who contributed a great deal to our school community.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Emma’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Emma will be missed and will forever hold a special place in our school.”
Colette Watson, the headteacher at St Mark’s Primary in Hamilton, added: “Emma was a lovely girl, caring and considerate and many of our staff have truly fond memories of her time with us.
“This is terribly sad news, and our thoughts, prayers and profound sympathies go out to Emma’s family and friends.”
Issuing a touching tribute, Emma's friend Paris Mcgoldrick wrote: "I don’t even know where to begin with how perfect our Emma was. I loved everything about you and I forever will.
"Heaven just gained the most beautiful angel they will ever get and I’m forever grateful to call you my friend. I will forever cherish the moments we shared together, Em.
"I love you forever my girl, you will never be forgotten."
Another tribute from Megan Todd read: "The prettiest and brightest angel to step foot in heaven, words can't describe my love for you.
"15 years of the best friendship full of laughter and joy. Never a goodbye just a see you later until we meet again."
Kimberly Barrie also wrote: "Emma Ramsay, thank you for allowing me to get to know the purest and most beautiful soul. I love you forever."
Meanwhile, a Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”
