The husband of British horse rider Georgie Campbell who died following a fall at a cross-country event last week, has released a statement.

Medical staff in Devon rushed to save her following her fall but sadly, it was too late.

The British star was married to equestrian Jesse Campbell, a member of the New Zealand team for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, with the pair eventually creating Team Campbell Eventing while being together.
Georgie was competing with her horse, Global Quest, who was healthy following the nasty fall.
She was originally a top-level showing rider, before turning to eventing, where she had represented Great Britain multiple times on Nations Cup teams and appeared at several five-star events.

Georgie had competed in over 200 events throughout her career, including the five-star events Badminton and Burghley, and had won on six occasions.
Following the untimely death of the horse rider, the governing body of the Bicton international horse trials, British Eventing, said in a statement on Sunday (26 May): “It is with deepest regret that we announce that Georgie Campbell (GBR) suffered a fatal accident whilst competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England, on Sunday 26 May 2024.
“Medical professionals attended immediately following her fall at fence 5b, however, unfortunately, she could not be saved.

“The horse, Global Quest, was assessed by the on-site vets and walked back to the stable and is uninjured. To respect the family’s privacy at this extremely difficult and sad time, no further details will be shared.
Police also confirmed that the death is not suspicious, with the time of death around 3:50pm.
Days after his wife's tragic death, Jesse Campbell released a statement on social media, which was accompanied by a picture of his wife.
Posting through the Team Campbell Eventing account, Jesse Campbell wrote: "I love you so, so much. This is my favourite photo of my beautiful wife. It's from our wedding day in 2021 and it was the best day ever.

"People will talk about G's smile, and it was incredible - it would make you feel like you were the centre of the universe. But what I love about this photo is how it captures her strength. She was a strong, beautiful, phenomenal woman who just loved everything and everyone.
"Working in the equestrian world is not an easy life; there are a lot of knocks and dark days. But G would navigate this by throwing so much joy and love at every situation."
He also said that she would enjoy a Greggs tea as much as teaching a client in the rain, or competing - a testament to the energy that he felt from her.

"I'm so proud to be your husband. Rest in peace, my beautiful girl," Jesse concluded.
Jesse, who has been similarly successful in the equestrian field in recent years, has won 21 major New Zealand and International Eventing titles and sport awards so far in his career.
The rider is now aiming for a medal at the upcoming Paris Olympics this year.
Jesse and Georgie had been married for four years prior to her death.
