Amy Hunt believes it is only by ‘sheer chance’ she wasn’t killed by Kyle Clifford as she emotionally addresses court

Kyle Clifford will be sentenced for the killing of Carol, Louise and Hannah Hunt today

Amy Hunt was told the court that she believes it was only by 'sheer chance' that she wasn't killed alongside her mother Carol and, sisters Louise and Hannah.

Amy and her father, BBC racing commentator John Hunt, read out their victim impact statements ahead of the sentencing of Kyle Clifford, who attacked and killed the three women last July.

Addressing Cambridge Crown Court, Amy told the court that Clifford was a 'monster' and what he did to Louise was 'nothing short of demonic', adding that she believed it was 'chance' that she wasn't attacked.

"You planned to take the lives of three women who have never done anything to hurt you and for what – you got dumped," Amy told the court.

"That day, and every day leading up to it, Kyle, you had a choice and you chose to inflict violence on a horrific scale, all for your own selfish and sadistic aims."

She continued: "All the time, truly thinking of yourself alone, I can only assume that in the days after Louise broke up with you in the kindest most respectful way… you created some kind of false narrative in your head about how we had supposedly wronged you in order to allow you to avoid confronting the pain and shame within you and the truth – that the break-up was entirely your fault."

Clifford, who plead guilty to murdering Carol, 61, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, refused to attend court to hear the statements. He was also found guilty of raping Louise, his former girlfriend of 18 months, in a 'violent, sexual act of spite' after she ended their relationship.

The judge, Mr Justice Bennathan, explained that he'd received a request from HMP Belmarsh, where Clifford is held, if he requested 'restraints' so that the 26-year-old could be forcibly brought to the video room, but refused.

"I have declined on the basis that the idea of a man in a wheelchair being put in restraints and potentially disrupting these proceedings is simply not appropriate or suitable," he explained to the court earlier.

Amy also addressed the devastating impact that the deaths of her mother and sisters had caused, adding: "That day, Kyle, you ripped a mother away from her daughters, a wife away from her husband, sisters away from one another, daughters away from their father, much adored friends away from their friends.

"It is difficult to think of a more devastating reality than the one you have created, Kyle – though I imagine that these facts mean nothing to you.

“You violently took my mother and sisters from me, and you violently killed almost all of my mum and dad’s children."
