Tea connoisseur Lipton has confused fans of the drink with a big announcement.
On Tuesday (18 March), Lipton revealed that its peach-flavoured ice tea was being sent to the rubbish dump after years of customer satisfaction - much to the confusion of its loyal British buyers.
"You may have heard that our iconic Peach Lipton Ice Tea flavour is getting discontinued,” began the post, which was titled REST IN PEACH.

"We know – it hurts (sorry if we’ve ruined your go-to afternoon chill bev). But don't worry, the rest of your faves are still here to keep you refreshed. And who knows? Maybe one day, Peach will make a legendary comeback. We appreciate your understanding during this period of adjustment and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
Fortunately for the millions of drinkers in mourning, their grief was short-lived as the company returned with a secondary message on Wednesday (19 March).

"How tf does a company discontinue arguably its best-seller," raged a social media user after coming across the initial announcement.
"Lipton this better be a joke for April 1st," pleaded somebody else, whilst a third individual suggested: "This is like Coca Cola discontinuing Coke."

Admitting to dropping the ball on an internationally-observed prank, Lipton's follow-up message stated: "Oops, is it still March? Got my dates mixed up... thought it was April Fools already!
"I'd never take away your favourite flavour, pookies. Your love for Peach has not gone unnoticed. But I've got your back, I will be sending a surprise to the biggest fans with the best reactions ;)".
Meanwhile, when word spread of Lipton's premature April Fools' Day joke, people turned up in their droves online to give them a piece of their mind.
"April fools? We're in March.. and it's the 19th," pointed out one of them.

"Went through all 5 stages of grief," a third said.
"I think a sincere 45 minute long apology YouTube video is needed for this. You can’t just put the lipton peach ice tea lover community in distress like that!!" read another comment.
