A police officer has been filmed appearing to stamp on a man's head while lying on the ground at Manchester Airport.
In the video, which has circulated around social media today, the policeman is seen holding a taser over the man who is lying down on the floor while being arrested.
In the incident that unfolded yesterday (23 July), the officer is seen seeming to strike the individual twice in the head in the airport's Terminal 2.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they are 'aware of a video that is circulating online which shows our firearms officers responding to an incident at Manchester Airport'.
"Officers were called to reports of an altercation between members of the public in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport," the police force said in a statement posted on social media.
"Whilst attempting to arrest one of the suspects of the earlier altercation, three officers were subject to a violent assault, where they were punched to the ground.

"A female officer suffered a broken nose and all three were taken to hospital for treatment.
"As the attending officers were firearms officers, there was a clear risk during this assault of their firearms being taken from them.
"Four men were arrested at the scene for affray and assault on emergency service workers.

"We acknowledge the concerns of the conduct within the video, and our Professional Standards Directorate are assessing this."
Manchester Airport wrote on X: "We are aware of an incident involving Greater Manchester Police officers that took place yesterday and, as a result, the force is investigating the matter.
"We will support the investigation in any way possible."
Eye-witness Amar Minhas from Leeds told the BBC that he saw the scene unfold, saying that a man in his 20s was allegedly 'pinned up against a wall'.

He claims that another man then 'started on the police' when a fight broke out.
Minhas alleges that the person who was pinned against the wall started 'throwing punches, he was tasered, and fell to the floor'.
"That’s when the policeman kicked him," Minhas added.

Earlier this month, GMP apologised amid the reports of three women who had accused the force of unjustified strip searches after being arrested.
The force said: "We have apologised and accepted the recommendations of an inquiry into the treatment of people in our custody that was commissioned following serious allegations in June 2023."
