Brother of British man found dead at bottom of lift shaft in Turkey claims he was murdered

Brother of British man found dead at bottom of lift shaft in Turkey claims he was murdered

The 20-year-old was found dead in Antalya last Friday (30 November)

The younger brother of a British man who was found dead at the bottom of a lift shaft at a hotel in Turkey has claimed that he was murdered.

Last Friday (30 November) the body of 20-year-old British tourist Tyler Kerry was discovered at the base of a lift in the all-inclusive holiday resort he was staying at with his family on the southern coast of Antalya.

Concern for Tyler's welfare was raised after he disappeared late on Thursday night while having a drink at the hotel with his cousin Nathan and brother Mason. His body would later be discovered 7am the following morning (4am GMT).

Now, Tyler's younger brother Mason has come forward to claim Tyler was murdered at the hotel, telling the BBC: "My brother's been killed, 100 percent. I want to see justice for my boy.

"It's killing me sitting here thinking of everything that could’ve happened to him.

"Me and the family, we can't cope just living in the dark. We need to know now," he added.

Mason also spoke about the moment his brother was found lying face down at the bottom of the lift shaft.

"It was heart-wrenching, heartbreaking. I never, ever thought I would see anything like that in my entire life," he said of discovering his brother's body.

"To the day I die I'm never going to be able to take my mind off it."

An investigation into the 20-year-old's death is currently underway. However, several members of the family have spoken out to say they feel left 'in the dark' about what has happened.

The family have also stated that during their search of the hotel for Tyler, personal items, such as his vape and other clothes, were recovered from various floors of the hotel.

"This is not a tragic accident and I just feel like nobody is listening to me. It's like they just want to sweep it under the carpet and get shut of us," Tyler's grandmother Colette previously said during an interview with ITV.

"We have found blood in all different areas of this hotel. His vape, which I have because the police handed it back to me, is covered in blood. That wasn't found with him, it was found on another floor of the hotel.

"We've found blood on the floor and in another lift shaft. It's in lots of other places in the hotel. It doesn't look like any forensic evidence has been taken at all. We've been taking photographs of it all in the hopes that this is investigated properly, because this needs to be a murder investigation," she continued.

"I'm worried that he might have been attacked and that someone put him down the lift shaft to make it look like a suicide or an accident."

The family have since set up a GoFundMe to raise money for Tyler's funeral, which you can donate to here.
