The grim recent weather in the UK is hardly the start to summer that we wanted. But fear not, the sun will return.
And it's making a comeback pretty soon, with a mini heatwave expected to hit the UK pretty soon and last for around a week. You just love to see it.
It comes as a 'super heatwave' has been predicted for the UK for later this summer, with temperatures approaching 40 degrees Celsius in certain parts of the country. So while it may not feel like it at the moment, sun cream weather is on the way sooner rather than later.
When is the mini heatwave coming to the UK?
According to some of the latest weather maps, the mini heatwave is set to grace UK shores as soon as the week after next.

What does the Met Office say?
The Met Office is the UK's official weather service.
For the week commencing Saturday, 15 June, it gives a little bit of a mixed bag that certainly includes sunshine. It says: "During the first weekend of this period, a mixture of sunny spells and showers is likely across the majority of the UK.

"Some of the showers are expected to be heavy and could be accompanied by thunder. Temperatures will probably be slightly below normal for the time of year. Into the following week, similar conditions are most probable at first with further showers.
"Later in the week and through the weekend, confidence in the dominate type of weather pattern is low. As such, fairly typical conditions for the UK are most probable, with a mixture of weather types.
"This means some spells of drier, sunny weather but also some showers or longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures will most likely be close to or slightly below average."
What's this 'super heatwave'?
According to James Madden, a forecaster from Exacta Weather, the UK should brace for temperatures in the high 30s this summer.

He said it'll be similar to highs we saw back in 2018 and 2023.
"Major heatwave or super heatwave still on target for mid-summer, plus proof of our previous correct forecasts for major heat events (Summer 2018, June 2023, September 2023)," he wrote.
It is predicted that the extreme temperatures of the high 30 degrees Celsius will hit the UK from 'mid-July'.
Madden said: "Our earlier high-confidence forecast for a major heatwave or super heatwave is still on target to develop in or around mid-July for the UK and Ireland, and temperatures could still reach as high as the mid to high 30C mark at the peak of this."
