The final 41 Wilko stores across the UK will close their doors for good tomorrow, after the retailer went into administration back in August.

Wilko began closing branches on 12 September, and further closures followed throughout September and into October.

Now the remaining 41 Wilko stores will stop trading on 8 October.

There were 400 Wilko stores open across the UK when it was announced the retailer had sadly crashed into administration on 10 August.

Several bids were put in to save some of the budget-friendly retailer's stores and jobs, including one from HMV owner Doug Putman, but sadly no deal was secured.

However, a number of stores were snapped up by fellow retailer B&M, while 71 Wilko units were purchased by Poundland and will be reopening under their brand name, with some branches already open.

Wilko branches in locations such as Birkenhead, Swansea, Derby and Sunderland will all be closing on Sunday.

Certain Wilko units will be reopening however, after 51 locations were snapped up by fellow retailer B&M as part of a £13 million deal.

Poundland has also purchased 71 Wilko stores and will be reopening them under its brand name. Units in Chepstow, Nottingham and South Wales are all opening today, 7 October.

Last month, Wilko administrators PwC sold the retailer's brand to The Range in a £5 million deal, meaning the Wilko website and brand name will still be live online despite store closures.

Currently, a message to shoppers is displayed on the Wilko website stating that home delivery will be 'returning soon'.
