A woman is suing the NHS for more than £10 million because she believes paramedics were to blame for worsening her broken neck injury, caused after she dived into a pool at a swingers club.

After more than six months in hospital, the woman was said to have suffered a permanent spinal cord injury and believes that paramedics, who responded to the incident in August 2021, are the reason why she claims she is now paralysed.

She alleges that she was mishandled by medics after she drunkenly dived into a shallow pool at a swingers club in Blackpool called Infusion.

"Infusion is a popular and thriving club; we have many regular customers who attend and lots of new people joining all the time," their website reads.

"One of our busiest nights for example we have had over 200 people.

"As we do not require people to book in advance we never know how busy we will be on any night."

The club, which has been around since 2005, said they 'have a totally mixed age range of customers from 18 - 70s'.

"The ground floor consists of an entrance vestibule, Reception, Swimming pool, Spa, Sauna, Chillout Lounge, Pool table, Podium pole, Dance area, 3 play rooms, Bar area and pool side seating," the website states.

Google Maps

"The first floor consists of changing rooms, Shower, Toilets, Dungeon, Loveswing, sex machine, 9 themed playrooms as well as voyeuristic areas and seating."

It is estimated that up to 1.5 million people in the UK take part in swinging.

Now, according to the Mirror, the woman involved in the accident at Infusion says she is now unable to walk, work, or live on her own.

Citing documents from the high court, she is now claiming £10 million in damages against the North West Ambulance Services Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for personal injury damages and losses.

Court documents reportedly also state that when staff from the club noticed her floating in the water, they were careful in removing her from the pool.

The woman's partner reportedly called the emergency services in the meantime.

However, when they arrived, the woman alleges that while using a wheelchair they did not support her head properly, as well as allegedly dropping her to the floor while they moved her in and out of the ambulance.

She claims that medics did not consider the damage that had been done to her neck and were not taking appropriate action to prevent the injury from getting worse.
