A photo of a number of abandoned cars sitting in a car park has a particularly sad backstory.
The image shows the Giants Stadium car park, located 10 miles outside of Manhattan, New York, with a number of vehicles sitting empty across various different spaces.
Sadly, it's reported that the vehicles were owned by people who passed away during the 9/11 terror attacks in the US.
On the morning of 11 September 2001, four planes were hijacked by the al-Qaeda terror group.

Two were flown into the Twin Towers in New York City, while another hit the Pentagon and a fourth - intended for either the White House or the US Capitol Building - was crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
The attacks killed almost 3,000 people, meanwhile, thousands more were injured.
Apparently, many commuters would leave their vehicles in the Giants car park before getting public transport into the city. After the tragic events of September 11, some of the commuters never returned to the car park to collect their vehicles.
In a post on Reddit, one person said: "All these years later and this is the first time I've ever seen or heard about this. One of those things you would not normally consider."
While another said: "I've never seen this before either. Now I'm thinking about a lot of cars that people were looking forward to seeing after a long day at work."

And a third added: "Wow. It’s just another photo of cars. The context makes it incredibly powerful."
While a fourth explained the photo further: "Giants Stadium parking lot is huge and much if it is used as a commuter parking lot for people to take the train to the city, or elsewhere.
"It's not that it's far from New York City, it's that parking in the city is very very expensive, so people park at the commuter lots for much less comparably, and take the train, or the bus. The cars that remained in the lot belonged to people that worked at the Trade Center or near it. Very sad."

Since the haunting photo went viral online, many have questioned its authenticity.
However, according to fact-checker Snopes, the photo - believed to be taken in 2001 - is likely to be accurate.
It turns out the image was actually taken from an NFL documentary, Remembering 9/11: How the Events of September 11th Impacted the NFL and the Community, in which the devastating events are discussed.
"Giants Stadium parking lot was a commuter lot, there were cars there that never left," said former Giants running back, Tiki Barber.

"... We would drive out and there would be cars there, the same cars in the same spot. You know that that person passed away. It made it real."
