There's been a new discovery in the case of a decomposing body which was found in an impounded Tesla belonging to the singer d4vd.

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles Police Department was called to an impound lot after people noticed a 'foul smell' coming from the boot of one of the cars, a Tesla registered to a Texas address.

The car is thought to have been in the impound lot for several days, and when police investigated the vehicle, they found a decomposing body inside.

d4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, was on tour at the time the body was discovered and a spokesperson said he'd been made aware of the discovery.

They added that he was 'fully cooperating with the authorities', and he has since continued to perform on his tour.

A medical examination of the body found that she was too decomposed to determine her ethnicity or eye colour, but she was 5'1 and weighed 71lbs with black hair.

She wore jewellery and had a tattoo saying 'Shhh...' on her right index finger, and in a further update the decomposing body was identified as that of a teenage girl.

Officials said she was aged somewhere between 14 and 15, and now, in a major update, NBC reports that her name has been given as Celeste Rivas, and she was 15 years old.

Forensic investigation identified the teenage girl, and in a statement, officials said there had been confirmation from the LAPD on the identity of the body.

They said: "Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the juvenile who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore.

"The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating this incident as a homicide and will be the point of contact for any further details regarding this investigation."

A cause of death had not been provided.

According to a missing persons appeal for Celeste Rivas, she had gone missing from Lake Elsinore, California, on 5 April last year when she was 13, having left her house on the Friday night, after which she was not seen again.

Her body, discovered in the boot of the impounded Tesla, had been wrapped in plastic, with law enforcement saying it wasn't intact.

TMZ claims that d4vd has since paused his tour, with the singer having been scheduled to perform in Seattle today (17 September) and San Francisco on Friday (19 September) before returning to Los Angeles the following day (20 September).

They also reported that they spoke with Celeste Rivas' mother, and she said the 'Shhh...' tattoo matched her daughter's, saying that her daughter's boyfriend was called 'David', and that he had the same 'Shhh...' tattoo.

LADbible has contacted d4vd's representatives for comment.
