Nobody can escape car problems, but what if your car issue looked like it harboured evidence of a murder?

It’s enough to make anyone call the police, which is why when TikToker Kimberly DeFisher (@arcticfoxdaily) found something stuck in the bottom of her aunt’s car, she was freaked out.

In the clip uploaded to the app, the text on the screen reads that DeFisher and her aunt made the scary choice to ‘call the police’ because it was ‘so creepy’ to find all that hair inside of the exhaust pipe.

It then carries on explaining what happened when her aunt told her about her car trouble.

The text read: “My Aunt called me over because she was freaked out about what we had assumed were the remains of an animal coming out of her vehicle’s muffler…”

While the aunt pulls out the hair ball, DeFisher speculates that it could be a decomposing animal and believed there was what looked to be dried blood inside of the hair strands.

In the clip, her aunt says: “This is human hair, Kimberly.

“I’m really scared, like, seriously.”

But the hair just kept coming out, which she described as ‘chock full’.

DeFisher can be heard saying: “I just don’t know what animal that would be.

“The only thing I can think of is like a skunk, or cat, that would match that, but…”

After going back and forth about whether they should take the car apart to be able to get all of the hair out, the pair started to ‘wonder if somebody had stuffed ‘evidence’ in [there].’

That’s when the women thought best to consult others, specifically, DeFisher’s cousins who ‘def. know more about vehicles than us’.

But in the end, the cousins confirmed that the hair was nothing to be alarmed about and found that the hair was attached to the muffler.

Telling the aunt that all mufflers have hair inside of them, the aunt can be seen yelling back at the boy: “Are you kidding me right now?!”

To figure out if the guys was correct, DeFisher ends up searching for images of ‘muffler hair’ and sees numerous pictures of what she had just been seeing in her aunt’s exhaust.

But the women weren’t the only people to be alarmed and confused by muffler hair.

The comments were full of people who were left scratching their heads over the whole thing, with some even pointing out that the cousins had been there the whole time and didn’t say a word until they were asked.

One person wrote: “I had so many guesses, all of them wrong, and not a single one came close to muffler hair.”

Another commented: “What I’m 54 years on this planet and I’ve never heard of muffler hair. Are we supposed to take it to get a haircut or something?”

Someone else thinks TikTok needs to lay off the crime shows: “I think we watch too much true crime.”

Now, if you’ve never heard of muffler hair, it’s nothing new.

The Autopian describes it as: “You've likely guessed this already, but this stuff isn't human hair. It's fiberglass, and it's used for sound deadening inside the muffler itself.”

So, don’t worry about a crime scene- worry about washing fiberglass off your hands.
