JD Vance is covering himself in glory on social media once again, with the people of Twitter calling out the vice president after his 'embarrassing comment' upon his arrival in Greenland.
The 40-year-old arrived at the ice-locked US military base of Pituffik in north-west Greenland earlier today (28 March), and has certainly p****d off a fair few people with his attempt at a light-hearted joke.
While President Donald Trump has only been in office since January of this year, his desire to take over Greenland began during his first term back in 2019.

The 78-year-old insisted that 'we have to have Greenland. It's not a question of 'do you think we can do without it.' We can't.'

His desire to acquire the world's largest island seemingly stems from wanting to best protect US security, as if Russia were to send missiles towards the US, the shortest route for nuclear weapons would be via the North Pole and Greenland.
During a speech to Congress, Trump said that control of Greenland was essential 'for national security and international security' but added that the semi-autonomous country, which is home to around 57,000 people, had the right to choose its own future.
He did also stress that 'if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America.'

However, Greenland's Acting Prime Minister Mute Egede, along with much of the country's population, has protested the unofficial visit.
Egede said: "Just for the record, the government of Greenland has not extended any invitations for any visits, neither private nor official."
So, when Vance showed up at Pituffik earlier today, he might have wanted to be on his best behaviour amid fears he would only sway Greenlanders' opinion further away from the idea of being taken over by the US.
However, the VP, who has already garnered criticism for his 'embarrassing' comment towards Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy during their heated exchange at the White house, has done it again.

In a now-viral video, the first thing he can be seen saying to soldiers at the US military base is 'it’s cold as s**t here.'

In responses on Twitter, users didn't hold back in their criticism of the republican party member.
They wrote: "This is getting so embarrassing for our country, our reputation may never recover. Now we are exporting our bro culture in a way that makes us seem as unsophisticated as we have become."
Another said: "What a f*****g embarrassment to the US, he has negative charisma and zero decorum."

And a third agreed, writing: "What has happened to America".
The prospect of becoming part of the US hasn't exactly appealed to Greenland, as Egede said they 'don't want to be Americans'.
"We don’t want to be Americans, nor Danes; We are Kalaallit. The Americans and their leader must understand that," he continued.
"We are not for sale and cannot simply be taken. Our future will be decided by us in Greenland."
And I'm sure Vance's move today has done nothing to change that.
