An American man was arrested earlier this week after his naive idea to drop off 'a can of coke' with the world's most isolated tribe.
Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov, 24, was apprehended by authorities on what is believed to be his third visit to North Sentinel Island, which is home to a dangerous tribe known as the Sentinelese people.
It is well-documented that those who live in tribes have a very different way of living compared with the western world, so it is often forbidden from visiting them.

And Mykhailo, a 'wannabe' travel influencer, risked death after allegedly leaving a can of coke and a coconut for the tribe to try, with his actions later labelled as 'deeply disturbing' by Survival International, a group that advocates for the rights of tribal people.

However, his potential jail time is a far better fate than the last American to travel to the islands, as Christian missionary John Allen Chau also paid the tribe a visit in 2018.
The 27-year-old bribed a local fisherman to help him reach the island back in November 2018, and even penned a letter to explain his intentions.
He wrote: "You guys might think I'm crazy in all this but I think it's worth it to declare Jesus to these people.

"Please do not be angry at them or at God if I get killed.
"Rather please live your lives in obedience to whatever he has called you to and I'll see you again when you pass through the veil.
"This is not a pointless thing - the eternal lives of this tribe is at hand and I can't wait to see them around the throne of God worshiping in their own language as Revelations 7:9-10 states."

Somehow, he was able to continue writing as he approached the island, and he described how the tribe approached him with bows and arrows.
He wrote: "I regret I began to panic slightly as I saw them string arrows in their bows. I picked up the fish and threw it towards them. They kept coming.
"I paddled like I never have in my life back to the boat."
It is believed that he was hit and killed by one of the arrows, with a police statement confirming that the fisherman saw him being buried.
It said: “The fishermen saw a dead person being buried at the shore which from the silhouette of the body, clothing and circumstances appeared to be the body of John Allen Chau."

However, his body was never recovered, due to the rules about anyone travelling within 5km of the island.
