Donald Trump dispensed with the services of his attorney general Pam Bondi with a four-word message.
Confirming the move in a statement on Truth Social on Thursday (2 April), the president wrote: "Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year."
Trump added: "We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future."
He also announced that Bondi's deputy, Todd Blanche, would be stepping in to replace her.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that on Wednesday (1 April), she turned out to be the April Fool as she was seen walking out of the White House with Trump to the president's limo for a ride to the US Supreme Court.

According to the outlet, it was on that two mile drive that he told her: "I think it's time."
Four words and that was basically it for her career in his regime, and while they were later pictured sitting in the Supreme Court, it wasn't long before Trump switched seats.
The WSJ says Bondi had asked if she could at least stay in her job until the summer, but this was not something Trump was willing to agree to and she was out.
It also reports that Trump's 'reasons' for wanting rid of her were several, including alleged unhappiness at her handling of the release of the Epstein files and the fallout that had resulted from it.
Her not managing to prosecute his political enemies was another reason, according to the Wall Street Journal, which said Trump had made up his mind to sack Bondi earlier in the week.
His four-word message to Bondi in the limo had not been the first time the topic of her departure had been raised, the outlet reports, as Trump had on several occasions spoken of how unhappy he was with how slowly she was working through his agenda.

Unhappy with how slowly things were progressing for him and the lack of good coverage for the US Department of Justice, his idea to get rid of her had apparently been brewing for months.
In a statement on X, Bondi said she would 'continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration'.
"Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history," she said, before adding: "I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again."
Elsewhere, Trump has been busy addressing the US about the war he started against Iran and now seems a lot less enthusiastic about as he declared it was going to end 'very shortly'.

Claiming the US 'core objectives are nearing completion', he made it sound as though his war with Iran was nearing an end despite the lack of confirmation on negotiations.
However, his appearance had some viewers questioning his health as they speculated that Trump seemed 'low energy' and appeared to be 'struggling to read'.
He's also been hinting that he might withdraw America from NATO, a move which would be bad for both the alliance and the US itself.
Just a few words from him can end a career or spark turmoil in the rest of the world.
