A woman has shared a ‘red flag’ text she received after meeting with her online date. The TikToker, who calls herself @__nikkl on the platform, shared a screenshot of texts she received from a man called “Josh” after their first date in a bid to warn other online daters about “why dating is miserable.”
At the start of the video, Nik told viewers about their first date together, stating that she and Josh “absolutely hit it off” and spent six hours together. She then went on to explain that the pair had planned to meet again for a second date after Josh returned from his work trip.
And it’s no surprise to see what happened next: Josh never replied to Nik’s texts about their second date, leaving her in the dark with no explanation as to what happened.
As she explains in the video, she texted him on a Friday about their date on Sunday, but he didn’t reply. She “never expected to hear from him again.”
A few days later, her M.I.A date responded with a “half-a**ed apology” in an attempt to rekindle things and “see each other again”. Rightly so, Nik reiterated that his apology didn’t feel genuine and didn’t want to ignore the fact he just ghosted her.
“I was very polite about it,” she explained in the video. “I was like, look, what do you expect from me? Or we just gonna kind of forget that you disappeared and couldn’t at least be honest that you weren’t able to see me last Sunday.”
Josh then explained via text that he didn’t enjoy their date in the same way Nik did. “Honestly, I wasn’t hot with urgency because I noted you excused yourself to go to the bathroom when the check came for dinner and also drinks and I hate it when girls do that,” he said, trying to call her out.
“It’s exceptionally rude and cheap; and really disrespectful and I felt like you really didn’t care despite what I felt from you.”
Nik explained in the video that she actually left to use the bathroom before the bill came, and didn’t realize it was coming at that moment. Josh then sent a few more spiteful messages that Nik said weren’t true, as he stated that Nik was the one who “picked the restaurant.”
Josh then wrote that he’s looking for a partner who will “innately feel the need to pay for what they ordered without assuming [he’ll] cover it.” He also stated that he didn’t like using money from his “trust fund” to “cover for other girls’ drinks” - something that Nik didn’t even know he had.
If your date brings up money and tries to hold it against you, girl, run.
