A woman’s bad luck has turned after she astonishingly won £300,000 (AUD $533,078 or USD $342,154) in the lottery.
Karen Parkin from Notting Hill began playing scratch cards after witnessing a woman in a shop win £50,000 (AUD $88,848 or USD $57,025).
The 51-year-old has had it rough the past few years as she was forced to give up her job as a delivery driver after suffering from arthritis of the spine.

In addition to that she's been a bit short of cash recently.
“Only last week I found a leak in my hosepipe and couldn’t justify buying a new one at £48 (AUD $85.27 or USD $54.74)," she said.
“I’ve just been out and bought one for £52.

"I am constantly thinking about how to pay for things, putting £20 (AUD $35.54 or USD $22.80) of fuel in the car rather than filling it up."
Karen added: "I normally get all the bad luck. If something bad is going to happen someone then it’s always me.
But on October 18, while standing in a shop queue, Karen remembered the lucky scratch card winner and decided to purchase two Cosmic Cash games at Sonia Stores on Park Lane in Basford.
When she got home to peel away the scratch card, it revealed that she had won the top prize of £300,000.

She said: “On the night I won I’d been at home and I needed some bread and milk so went down to my local shop.
“I also bought two National Lottery Scratch cards then went home, put the kettle on and sat down in the kitchen with a coffee before watching The Chase.
“I scratched the first one and saw that I’d won and just sat there.
“I can’t even remember if I scratched the second one, it’s all a bit of a blur.

“I remember calling my friend Tony and asking him to pop round to help me check it.
“He said it looked like I was a winner, so I called the National Lottery line to claim.”
The 51-year-old celebrated with a small glass of vino before hiding the winning scratch card in some tea towels and placing it in a drawer.

She admitted that she didn’t get a ‘wink of sleep’ that night.
It didn’t take long for Karen to treat herself as she’s already splurged on a brand new VW California campervan and plans to treat her mum to a trip to Cairo and the Maldives.
I mean, she’s truly living her best life.
Karen also want to put the money to buying a house for her and her two Bull Mastiff pets, Elvis and Vogue.
“I still can’t believe it’s happened to me," she said. “Life will be less stressful and it just feels brilliant.”
