Job interviews are among the most stressful times in a person's life and while some thrive at the opportunity to blow their own trumpet and speak extensively about all the amazing things they've done, the same is not true for others, who sadly crumble under the pressure.
Making the right impression is a fine balance, as one jobseeker found when she told a little porky during an interview.
Sharing the tale on Reddit, the woman's husband explained that she just 'panicked'.
He wrote: "My wife was asked the greatest achievement question and responded with an answer that related to her professional life.
"When the interviewer asked if she could name something outside of work, she panicked and said she loved to do 10k runs (she wouldn't run out the door If the house was on fire).
"Yer man furthers his interest by asking her personal best and she tells him two hours. Two f***ing hours!! She said he started laughing and asked whether she crawled it on her knees."
The man later added: "C'mere, I just told her that I posted it and she reminded me that straight after he asked her if she crawled it, she responded by saying, 'Sorry. I just lied and I've no idea why'."
Oh dear.
But it turns out that it didn't affect her too badly.
When asked if his wife got the job in the end, the man said: "She did."
While we're on the topic of job interviews, though, it's always good to be prepared for any eventuality. You might not be as lucky as the woman above.
And last year, a TikToker shared a simple question that applicants should ask during a job interview, which he said most people don't really think about ahead of time.
But he claimed it will 'practically guarantee' you the role if you manage to get it in.
In a post to his channel, @brookerxyz explained how you can make a difference to your chances of getting a job when it comes to the part in the interview, which usually comes right at the end - when you're asked if you have any questions for your would-be employer.
It's the part of the interview where many of us stumble, often having prepped for every other part of the conversation but that.
But @brookernyz believes it's a key part of the interview, and can actually be used to your advantage.
He said: "When it comes to the part of the interview where they ask you if you have any questions, say some version of this: 'When you look ahead six months to a year from now, and you picture the person in this role doing an excellent job, what do you picture?'
"Every single time I've asked that question, the interviewer has said, 'Wow, that's a great question'."
The TikToker continued: "It shows that you're interested in doing a good job.
"Also, their answer to that question is usually very telling about what they're actually looking for. Trust me, it works."
