Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your dirty 'do!
One Tennessee woman has broken the Guinness World Record for having the longest mullet on the planet, coming in hot at 172cm long (5.6 feet), which is just shy of the average height for an adult male.
Tami Manis from Knoxville, Tennessee, began growing her locks in the 1980s after she was inspired by a girl with a ‘rat-tail’ in a music video for the song ‘Voices Carry’ by the American band Lil Tuesday.

"I went to get my hair cut at a barber shop and the guy really said that's not my hairstyle and not good on me, but I was like 'Well, this is what I want,'" she told Guinness World Records.
She has not touched her hair since 9 February 1990.
“The weirdest thing I find is that people remember me from years ago,” Manis said.

Mr Manis, a public health nurse, said she usually catches people by surprise, as it’s not until she turns around that they realise how long her flowing mane is.
Manis also revealed that she usually has the back of her mullet braided as it’s longer than her.
According to the Tennessee native, it’s not just her good genes to which she attributes her lengthy hair to.

"I also do a conditioner which has Argan oil in it," she said.
Manis will feature in the 2024 Guinness World Book of Records.
She previously placed in the 2022 US Mullet Championships, an annual competition for those sporting a little business in the front and a party in the back, which had more than 1,000 applications.
Manis won the competition’s $300 runner-up prize, with the top $500 prize going to Alexa Lindsey of Holland, Michigan, who has since died.

Following the competition, the Guinness World Record opened up an entry for the record of the longest mullet, and Manis thought she’d be a shoo-in.
Well, she was right.
“When I opened it, I thought, ‘This is amazing,’” she said.
While mullets have recently had a resurgence, thanks to Miley Cyrus, Joe Keery and Paul Mescal, Manis doesn’t bother to keep up with the trends.

Instead, her mullet continues to honour the '80s.
"I've had people recognise me from 20 years ago because I've kept the same hairstyle," she said.
