Terrifying footage shared on social media showed the aircraft spiralling out of control, before plunging down into a cluster of trees.
The plane crashed in a gated community in Vinhedo, with further footage showing flames and smoke coming from the fuselage where it had plowed into the side of a house.
Local woman Ana Lucia de Lima witnessed the crash and said: "I thought it was going to fall in our yard.

"It was scary, but thank God there were no victims among the locals. It seems that the people inside the plane were the real victims though."
Another resident, Daniel de Lima, heard a loud noise before seeing the plane spiralling in the sky.
"It was rotating, but it wasn’t moving forward," he told Reuters. "Soon after, it fell out of the sky and exploded."
No residents were hurt in the crash, however, VoePass has since confirmed that the 57 passengers and four crew members all died.

In a statement, the airline said: "The company regrets to inform that all 61 people on board flight 2283 died at the site.
"At this time, VoePass is prioritising provision of unrestricted assistance to the victims' families and effectively collaborating with authorities to determine the causes of the accident."
An investigation is now underway into the cause of the crash with Brazilian authorities dispatching specialists in plane crashes and the identification of disaster victims to the scene.

The head of the air force’s Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Centre, Brigadier Marcelo Moreno, said that there was no timeline for the investigation to be completed.
"It is still very premature to say anything," he said before adding: "There was no communication from the aircraft to the control authorities indicating an emergency."
VoePass also stated that the aircraft had taken off 'without any flight restrictions, with all its systems functioning properly for the operation'.
At the time of the crash, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was speaking at an event in southern Brazil. After learning about the accident, he called for a moment of silence for everyone involved.
