Russia is unlikely to be top of anyone's holiday destination list this summer, but for 21 Brits the risky option is no longer on the table after the Kremlin issued a ban list recently.
The Eastern European country has, of course, been embroiled in a war with Ukraine since 2022 and President Vladimir Putin looks dead set on causing another world war, if his various warnings and harrowing comments are anything to go by.
While other countries have been in mourning following the passing of Pope Francis, with Putin not invited to the funeral, he and the Kremlin have had the time to work on a different project.

They have named 21 British people who have been officially put on Putin's 'stop list' which has been created in an effort to stop the 'demonisation' of Russia.

You might think they'd go for more traditional options such as Prince Andrew or Tommy Robinson, but they've limited their list to politicians for now.
A Russian spokesperson said: "The comprehensive nature of the anti-Russian sanctions introduced by Great Britain and the hysterical statements of the country's officials, in which threats are interspersed with lies and outright rudeness towards us, indicate that London does not intend to abandon its choice in favour of open confrontation with Russia.
“Russophobia and the desire to destroy Russian statehood remain integral elements of British foreign policy, which is completely subordinated to the task of inflicting as much damage as possible on our national interests."

The spokesperson continued: “Hostile statements and unfounded accusations coming from members of the UK Parliament, including public statements in favour of seizing Russian assets 'immobilised' in Western jurisdictions, not only pander to London’s hostile course, but are also used by opponents of mutually respectful dialogue with Russia to undermine the foundations of bilateral cooperation.
"We are closely monitoring such rhetoric and drawing the necessary conclusions."
As many as 107 new sanctions against Russia were introduced in February 2025, taking the UK's tally to 133, which is the highest of any country in Europe.
