A YouTuber has been released from the Taliban after facing eight months in their custody.
British student and content creator Miles Routledge was arrested by the extremist group in March and was presumed dead by many.
But the 23-year-old has finally been allowed to leave by the Taliban’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) in Afghanistan.

Miles, who describes himself as a dangerous tourist who often visits the most ‘extreme’ places on earth, bizarrely admitted he’s already ready to visit Kabul next month following his release.
“Eight months in Taliban Intelligence ‘custody’, best adventure I’ve had yet! All the previous tweets are true. Best mates with many top commanders after numerous picnics, lovely lads treated me as a guest! I will be returning to Kabul next month,” he penned on X.
In another post, Miles claimed that he even had access to a laptop and could watch movies during his custody.

“Really outdid myself. Why did some of you think I was dead? Why did anyone worry in the slightest? No faith in me! I have pull. Literally was watching the new Barbie movie with the Taliban and saw some of your comments on their phones, all of us snickering. Hehe,” he said.
Never did I think Barbie and the Taliban would be in the same sentence.
In follow-up tweets, the Brit said he would sell his story to news outlets for the right price to help fund his 'next adventure'.

“Money money money. UK Journalists, kindly DM me your offer for an exclusive. I have a lot of photos,” he wrote.
“Need to fund another adventure of course!”
The Foreign Office confirmed that Miles is one of four UK prisoners released by the Taliban earlier this week after 'living in the lap of luxury' as a prisoner.
The British armed forces evacuated him from Afghanistan in August 2021 as the Taliban took control of Kabul.

However, he later returned and was arrested by Taliban forces.
After his arrest, a friend took hold of his X account, and frequently posted updates.
“Miles is in a guesthouse and not an actual prison so he's very comfortable,” they wrote.
The friend added that the Taliban had been treating the student well.

“From what we've heard, he's having fun and the Taliban are very kind and fair. Lord Miles will have excellent, positive stories to tell upon returning home, stating, ‘I haven’t been this relaxed in years, lovely to get away from it all',” they wrote.
