Airports aren’t exactly known for being the most inspiring of places, especially when a severely delayed flight means your pre-departure beer buzz has worn off before you’ve even left the terminal.
But not all airports were created equal – as one in Singapore proves, having recently beaten all other destinations to be crowned the world’s best.
After opening its doors in 1981, Changi Airport has become one of the largest travel hubs in Asia, and is world-renowned for its customer experience.

While many of you might be used to killing time browsing magazines in WH Smith, at Changi Airport travellers can while away the hours with a little more excitement, opting to entertain themselves at the on-site amusement park, trampoline nets or maze – or even on the world’s tallest slide in an airport, if they’re brave enough.
And for anyone hoping to wind down a little before takeoff, the airport also boasts its very own indoor forest and stunning rainbow waterfall, while a ‘Heritage Zone’ lets guests get transported back to 1930s Singapore complete with vintage shop facades and theatrical performances.

It comes as little surprise, then, to hear that Changi has now topped the list of the World’s Best Airports, compiled by Money.co.uk, having beaten the likes of Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan and Mexico City International Airport.
The website compared airports across the globe, looking at various factors such as drop-off costs, restaurant choices, shopping options and parking prices.
With a total rating of 8.32 out of 10, Changi Airport was crowned the best overall experience, with Money.co.uk saying: “Singapore Changi is one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia and offers an unrivalled experience for its passengers, with a score of 8.32.
