Born in Kent, England, sportswoman turned commentator Annabel Croft won both Wimbledon and the Australian Open girls’ competitions in 1984, teeing her up for a promising tennis career.
By 1985 she had achieved a career high world ranking of 24 which all but mandated her presence in the 1985 and 1986 Fed Cup.
However, Croft’s budding career was cut short early as she quickly realised that the intense lifestyle of a professional tennis player was undermining her love for the sport, triggering her retirement at the age of 21.

Since calling it a day in 1988, Croft has pursued a multimedia career encompassing TV, radio and punditry.
She has appeared in numerous TV programmes and game shows from popular 1980s game show Treasure Hunt to the more sombre Famous, Rich and Homeless in 2012.
Despite her retirement from the professional game, tennis has dominated Croft’s career as she has coupled her small-screen career with extensive punditry. Croft has been a commentator for the BBC, Radio 5 Live and Sky Sports amongst others.
Regardless of her abrupt exit from professional sport, Croft has built herself a distinguished career both outside and inside tennis which has left fans wondering what she’s worth.

The source of Croft’s capital is almost exclusively her career in TV and radio as she won just £201,254 in prize money across her professional career.
Complementing her tennis earnings and media work, Croft also launched a company with fellow presenter Carol Smilie in 2012 called DiaryDoll which sells waterproof underwear for periods, pelvic-floor weaknesses and post-maternity targeting the stigma around women’s pelvic health.
More recently, Croft’s name has been in headlines for her appearance on the moderately controversial GB News.
She spoke to Nigel Farage on Talking Pints.

Although the discussion was generally light-hearted and skirted major issues, the controversial topic of Russian and Belarusian tennis players not being allowed to compete at Wimbledon due to recent undertakings in Ukraine was brought up.
Croft stated that she was “very sad for the players” and thought the All England Club had taken the wrong course of action.
Croft is married to ex-professional yachtsman turned investment banker Mel Coleman and they live in Coombe, near Wimbledon.
