An 80-year-old bodybuilder has shared his miraculous trick to make his muscles bigger without working out more.

Veteran muscle man Frank Zane is still staying in shape after all these years and is offering his followers some nuggets of wisdom when it comes to bulking.

The pensioner's physique was once considered one of the greatest in the history of bodybuilding due to his admirable focus on bodily symmetry and proportion.

The man was so revered he was even inducted in the IFBB Hall of Fame back in 1999.

So, it makes sense that he knows a few tricks of the trade when it comes to pumping iron.

And he recently shared with his 199,000 followers on Instagram the solution to getting bigger without working out more.

And the kicker?

Some good old-fashioned stretching.

He wrote: "Stretching between sets will double the effectiveness of your workout.

"The stretch involves the muscles you are working and gives these muscles more of a pump. Breathing deeply, think or say the mantra 'I am flexible and can stretch my limits'."

The post, coupled with a vintage photo of the ex-bodybuilder from his hay day, has since racked up thousands of likes with fans eager to share their thanks for the tried-and-tested tip.

One Instagram user praised: "Zane, you are the best, with intellect effort and a lot of dedication in your infinite discipline and iron will you not only forged yourself but millions.

"My grandparents and now I were one of those who have been greatly motivated by your existence in all areas related to their own growth."

"Smartest and best bodybuilder EVER," a second added while others dubbed the living legend a 'pioneer' and 'The Goat'.

The legend is still going strong.

A fellow gym bro even went as far as to substantiate Frank's advice, writing: "I do this every work out it definitely makes a difference."

With a 50-year-long career behind him alongside a whole bunch of bodybuilding accolades, Frank continues to teach the next generation his tricks.

In a separate post about the powers of stretching, Frank told his followers: "Stretching between sets is very important.

"It lessens the chances of injury, improves blood flow to keep the muscles warm, helps with posing, and helps to maintain range of motion."

So there you have it - be sure to limber up next time you're at the gym and you too could look like Frank at the ripe age of 80.
