Budget airline Ryanair has secured 15 extra travel routes for its holiday-hungry customers to indulge in this summer.

Fresh from slicing its use of 19 different European airports, the company bossed by Michael O'Leary just softened the blow by adding all-new destinations starting this week.

With that blistering UK heat wave all but over now - sleeping just got a whole lot easier, at least - heads are turning towards the continent for a traditional sunny escape.

Ryanair's connection expansion targets regional airports as the demand for affordable holidays has never been as high thanks to the cost of living.

Ryanair is also adding more routes from Albania's capital, Tirana, which has become an increasingly vital market for low-cost airlines. Flights are connecting the city with Alghero, Genoa, Parma and Wroclaw.

Maybe recent charity scratch card winner Helen Swindells will be back in the air with her surprise paymasters over the summer months.

Just last month, the Liverpudlian bagged a tidy €500,000 (£433,002) from the firm's 'Win A Million' draw, which cost just a couple of quid to enter.

Celebrating her life-changing win during the 'Win A Million' event at Slane Castle, Swindells commented: "I'm absolutely over the moon – never in a million years did I think boarding that Ryanair flight home to Liverpool from my holiday in Krakow that I would purchase a winning Ryanair Charity Scratch Card.

"I only bought the scratch card because I wanted to support Naomi House & Jacksplace. It was only €2, so I thought 'Why not?'. Little did I know that I'd win and have the opportunity to got to Slane Castle with the Ryanair Team and participate in Ryanair's annual 'Win a Million' event – an event that has changed my life forever.

"I knew there was a chance to win €1 million, but I just never thought I'd win anything close to that – let alone walking away with €500,000. It is completely life-changing and I couldn't be happier!"
