3. Driving the Great Ocean Road
Road trips in the UK can be fun but when you’re even bored of Tebay Services you know it’s time for a change of scenery. And Australia just happens to have one of the world’s most scenic drives - Great Ocean Road in Victoria. From towering cliffs and pristine beaches, to lush rainforests, this drive has it all. 4. Hiking in the Flinders Ranges
Keeping fit while you’re Down Under means you aren’t just limited to the gym. Especially when you can explore the great outdoors in amazing weather. The Flinders Ranges has a range of hiking trails to suit all levels of fitness and experience. From challenging multi-day treks in South Australia to easy day hikes, there’s something for everyone and if you keep your eyes peeled you might spot a kangaroo or an emu!
5. Watching or taking a camel ride during the sunset at Cable Beach
But if hiking isn’t your thing, how does sitting on a beautiful beach watching the sunset sound? If that’s more your speed then you have to visit Cable Beach. You can’t live and work in Australia without diving into a bit of its history. There are loads of museums across Australia but one of the best is in Darwin. It’s home to dozens of charming and historic wineries, many that have been owned and operated by the same family for generations.
8. Exploring the Tasmanian wilderness
Australian wildlife is just better isn’t it? Kangaroos, wombats, wallabies - all these iconic Australian animals can be found in the Tasmanian wilderness. Even if wildlife isn’t your thing it’s a fantastic place to enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, white water rafting, and mountain biking. 9. Surfing at Bondi Beach
Have you even experienced life as a true Aussie if you haven’t surfed? And you won't find a better place for beginners than at Bondi Beach. It’s ideal if you’re a novice because it’s got a really welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to meet other surfers and make new friends. Plus, there are plenty of surf schools and equipment hire shops so you can pick up everything you need without forking out a fortune to buy stuff and figuring out how to get it home.
10. Experience Aboriginal culture in Canberra
If you find yourself in the capital of Australia, it’s the perfect place to explore the Aboriginal culture of the country. There’s loads of guided tours you can do to delve into the history of Australia and the Aboriginal people.
