A shopper was left surprised after spotting a strange 'white spot' on a bunch of bananas she bought from the supermarket giant Asda.
After returning home, the unnamed shopper rushed to the Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas Facebook group to see if anyone could explain what it was.
The customer wrote: "Anybody have any idea what this white spot is on my banana? Brought from Asda yesterday."

She shared a picture of the oddly coloured fruit alongside her message, hoping someone will be able to give her some answers.
It wasn't long until other Facebook users started commenting on the post with ideas on what may have been happening to the bananas.
As you'd expect with a peculiar looking bunch of bananas, the answers weren't exactly great for the shopper.

One reply read: "Definitely a spider in there."
A second added: "That looks like a spiders egg sack. Put in a bag and tie it. I would take it back."
Meanwhile, another added: "This happened to me last year, Bought some bananas and got a free spiders nest with wee tiny spiders coming out of it."

After hearing it was most likely a spider living in her bananas, the Asda shopper took to the Facebook group again to share what she did with the bananas.
She said: "I can confirm said banana, well the bunch of them (put me off for life) are in the bin outside!
"I may pour boiling water over them in case they hatch inside the bin and wonder into the house because I do NOT do spiders at the best of times! Let alone venomous ones!"
The shopper added: "May even burn my bin if I’m honest might be the best option (I am of course joking)."

An Asda spokesperson told LADbible: "That particular ‘white spot’ looks to be a mealy bug nest, they’re completely harmless but as with other insects and they like to make themselves at home in between banana fingers which provide a nice protective habitat for them to live."
It is only natural that as fruit such as bananas grow mostly in outdoor environments, insects may habit in them on some occasions.
Asda has detailed a blog post which showcases the journey of bananas from growing in places like Costa Rica and Colombia to them being transported to the UK to hit store shelves.
