A relationship expert has warned that 'most people don’t even realise what to look for' when their partner is cheating.
The New York-based dating expert - who goes by the name 'Ask Kimberly' on TikTok - has revealed the three sneaky ways cheaters try and hide their heartbreaking antics.
"As a relationship therapist with a doctoral degree in psychology, I have seen hundreds of clients who have gotten cheated on, so I know exactly what to look for," she insists.

So what are the key signs, according to Kimberly?
Improving physical appearance
The relationship expert claims that if your partner is all of a sudden starting to improve their physical appearance, it could be an indicator something is going on and is often one of the first signs.

"So all of a sudden, they start going to the gym, or wearing cologne, or buying new underwear for themselves," Kimberly explained.
"The reason why cheaters do this is because essentially, they're back on the market.
"They're putting their best foot forward for someone else when they've kind of given up on trying to impress you.
"So that's why physical appearance is literally one of the first things that people notice when their partner's cheating.

"It's like, they didn't care at all, they weren't putting any effort in and now all of a sudden, they're super concerned with how they look."
Phone guarding
If you're sat next to your partner and they won't let you anywhere near their phone, it's worth exploring why.

"When someone is cheating their phone is literally their lifeline," Kimberley said.
"If they're cheating on you, there's almost a 100 percent chance they are texting and exchanging DMs with this person and the phone houses all of that evidence.
"And they know like the minute you get your hands on that phone or see something on their phone, it's over."
Time
This sounds a bit odd, but cheating requires a lot of time and effort to make it work.

Excuses like 'travelling for work' aren't just decided overnight.
"Travelling for work is the biggest way that cheaters accomplish this time and space, whether they're actually travelling for work or pretending to travel for work," the expert said.
"And when they're travelling and you ask them how their day was they're gonna give you some big, long lengthy explanation about how their day was and what they did.
"They do this to placate you. They want to overload you with information so that you'll stop asking questions."
