Endless sunshine, miles of blue sea and different cities out your window make cruises the perfect holiday for some people.
All those days spent under blue skies on the deck or chilling on your balcony as you sail across the ocean, it’s a dreamy vision.
But while the day time might seem like cruise ship heaven, some people have been put off travelling on them for life thanks to what goes on at a night time.

A terrifying viral video showed the reality of being on board the floating hotels in the darkness and now a haunting new angle has ramped up that fear.
The previous clip panned from inside the cabin of a cruise ship before going out onto the balcony. And at that point, everything essentially disappears into total darkness.
On the other side of the rail, it’s just completely black with just a few lights from the top deck and a neighbouring balcony in sight.
But aside from the glimmer of the odd bit of light reflecting, you can’t even see the waves of the ocean moving down below the big boat.

And a video recently posted to @chasingthedream.hj on TikTok, shows another insight to just how dark it is at night on a cruise ship.
“Cruises are great until you realise how dark the ocean gets at night,” the clip explains.
It goes on to say that most people don’t quite understand the intensity of the darkness.
“It’s like unless you’ve been on a cruise ship, you’re not gonna understand how dark it gets at night,” it continues.

This is because there’s literally ‘nothing to see’ if you look overboard during the night because ‘it’s absolutely pitch black’.
“It’s the blackest black you’ve ever seen,” it adds.
The camera then eventually goes from showing the glowing swimming pool and lit up deck, to panning overboard into the total darkness.
“Absolutely pitch black,” it says.
And for some users it made the thought of ‘the Titanic even more horrific’.

“Just imagine how the people on the titanic felt in the middle of nowhere with things beneath you. Now that’s scary,” one echoed.
Another described: “It’s like the world around doesn’t exist and you’re floating in a black void.”
Some said they ‘would hate this’ as others were led to the baffling realisation that despite the total darkness, it’s made even darker by the ship’s light pollution typically blocking out being able to see stars light up the sky.
