Ageing. It happens to all of us and it's totally unavoidable.

However, when it may feel like time is just passing you by - some people can take solace in knowing that there are some key milestones they can look forward to over the years.

From learning a language to psychological wellbeing, studies have shown the exact ages people peak at everything and luckily it's not all doom and gloom after your twenties.

Starting from the bottom up, it's been suggested by Business Insider that the peak age of being able to learn a new language is seven years old.

While people definitely can still master a new language well into adulthood, it is supposedly a lot easier to do so before puberty, claims a 2001 study.

With that said, the data shouldn't discourage any avid Duolingo-streakers out there as experts say that anyone at any age can learn a new language - it may just take a little more effort than doing so as child.

Flash-forward a decade or so, and it's been found that once an individual hits 18 they hit the optimum levels for brain processing power.

Yep - that's correct.

It's the awkward coming-of-age teenagers who are best able to process information with their brain.

The data was gathered from a study published in 2016 in which a cohort of people had to complete digit symbol coding test and it was found that the 18-year-olds did the best on average.

Ever met someone new and totally forgot their name just seconds after them telling it to you?

Well, there appears to be a scientific reason for this phenomenon which you can use as an excuse the next time it happens to you.

A 2001 study about cognitive development and ageing found that the ability to remember unfamiliar names peaks at about 22.

So you can now blame the next awkward name-amnesia situation on your age. Unless you're 22, then you have no excuse quite frankly.

Getting into the age we are physically at our prime, it's been found that the ages differ hugely between men and women.

A book published in 2014, Dataclysm, used data from the dating site OkCupid to find that men find women in their early 20s to be the most attractive.

23 - to be exact.

The data also noted that even when the men got older, they still kept their preference for women in their 20s however 20-something women intended to go for slightly older men - one or two years their senior.

Moving onto general life satisfaction, one survey asked a series of questions to 23,000 people in Germany and found that, on average, 23-year-olds were the most satisfied with their lives, 'all things considered'.

Once the stresses of growing pains in your adolescent years are finally over, you can rest easy knowing that your strength peaks at age 25 and will stay that way for the next decade and a half, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto reports.

In terms of relationships, it's not until 26 that most people decide to settle down, the 37 percent rule of statistics claims, and it's between the ages of 28 and 32 that divorce rates are at their lowest.

The rest of the run up to your 40s is packed with heaps of peak ages, including 28 being the optimum age for an average elite marathon runner, chess players getting to the highlight of their career at 31 as well as most Nobel Prize winners achieving the award at 40, on average.

Getting into the money side of things, it's been found that women's salaries peak at around 39 while men's tops out at about 48, Payscale reports.

Gone will be the days of losing concentration once you hit 43, with Harvard researchers observing it to be the age where people's ability to focus reaches its high point.

Middle-age holds heaps more great milestones including understanding of other people's emotions which peaks in your 40s to 50s, arithmetic skills peaking at 50, and life satisfaction making a second peak at age 69.

People in their late 60s and early 70s have been found to have the best vocabulary following a 2015 study using multiple-choice questions.

Another thing to look forward to at 70 is feeling the best about your body you've ever felt with a Gallup study claiming that it is the senior citizens that like the way they look the most.

These average ages have been identified using a whole load of surveys and self-reports rather than controlled trials so while it's great to have exact ages for all these things, the data may not be the most accurate.

So, regardless of your current age, it's clear that there's heaps to look forward to in the upcoming years.
