We’re edging towards that time of year when a new model of iPhone drops and we suddenly feel compelled to ditch our current ones and break the bank.
You know, you decide that you simply must splash all that cash on a different device before realising that actually, yours is perfectly fine.
But still, eventually, the time does come round where it’s time to update your tech, with Apple consistently having a whole list to choose from.

Although, it’s apparently not always worth buying yourself the newest as it seems the latest iPhone isn’t necessarily the greatest.
So, experts have revealed which model of the cult phone will give you the best value for your money.
The best, oldest model
While many Apple fans praise 2020’s iPhone 12 as the best, longest-lasting generation of the device, experts reckon there’s one step up that’s better.

They told the Daily Mail that the iPhone 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max is the ideal older model for the best value because it perfected all the good parts of the one before.
Ex-Apple employee Tyler Morgan said he ‘always recommends’ the iPhone 13 Pro because since its release, ‘it’s just been copies with small updates and gimmicks’.
Repair technician Stan agreed that he’d go for a 13, calling it the revision’ of the iPhone 12. In the UK, Apple currently price a regular iPhone 13 from £599.
The best budget model
So, the iPhone 13 is great, but many experts also suggest a cheaper model for those really wanting to keep costs low but still stick with the tech company.

Introduced back in 2016, the iPhone SE (short for special edition) quickly became the holy grail of ‘budget’ Apple devices.
A newer model of the SE was released in 2022, meaning it’s still up to date with the latest makes.
“If you were looking for best 'bang for the buck,' that would be the SE 2022, in my opinion,” Stan said. “Every technician will have his own opinion, but that's usually my go-to.”
He added that if you’re just looking for the basics, then the model is the perfect choice. Sure, it doesn’t have Face ID, but not everyone is exactly a fan of that but it’s still got decent response-time and internet speeds.

Stan said the camera is fairly good, but it obviously doesn’t have some of the higher quality features as other models.
In the UK, Apple currently price the iPhone SE from £429.
