Phone batteries seem like they last a few hours at best these days, and with so many applications on the go at once, it’s no surprise.
However, tech enthusiasts on Reddit have shared the iPhones apps that use the most power on their devices and it’s rather eye-opening.
No more will you have to settle for the red bar on your phone to be glaring at you while you struggle to make it within reach of a charger.

One Reddit user claimed it was their ‘camera app’ and wrote: "It’s the worst when out on a long day taking a lot of photos and videos, so that’s why I want better battery life."
Another claimed it was Apple music and TikTok that was eating up their power, because they ‘love a good doom scroll when I am home before bed’.
While there were many other apps that were hailed as the cause of a short battery life, there was one that most people seemingly agreed was the main culprit.

It’s none other than Facebook.
You’re probably reading this right now thanks to the social media app… am I wrong?
One Redditor said: "I would take an educated guess and say it’s both Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
"If anyone knows how to restrict battery usage by these apps as much as possible I am all ears."

Another added: "I have to say that for me it’s the Facebook app."
This could possibly be because a lot of people are unable to download Facebook Lite, which uses less data and functions.
As it’s only available for download through the Google Play Store, iPhone users would have to use Facebook via the browser version, and it’s not 2010 anymore - we don’t do that now.

However, there is a way to stop Facebook from ruining your phone's battery longevity.
It’s by cutting off the app's ability to constantly refresh in the background, which eats up your data.
You can do this by clicking off ‘Background App Refresh’, which is found in your ‘Settings’ under ‘General’.
Not only is its constant refreshing crushing your data, but also its autoplay feature for videos. This can be disabled on the app itself via the menu:

‘Settings & Privacy’ > ‘Media’ > ‘Media and Contacts’> ‘Autoplay’.
Or you could just disable your notifications, which is equally as draining by:
‘Phone Settings’> ‘Notifications’.
If you want to make sure it’s as sustainable as possible, you can then check your permissions, so that other apps you use aren’t contacting Facebook in the background.
Head to the Facebook app, tap your gear icon, select ‘Apps and Websites’ under ‘Permissions’ and there you have it.
