A formerly religious man who lost his mother to cancer at the age of 22 said he developed a bitterness towards God.
Although Jeff accepted Christ as a young boy, he blamed the Lord for taking her life away.
He became a police officer and started to excessively drink to fill the void.

Although happily married, Jeff suffered from depression up until his life changed forever in 2014.

In April of that year, he was involved in a life-threatening car crash and went through several surgeries in ICU.
During that time, Jeff said his heart stopped and visited 'heaven and hell'.

“I felt my soul leave my body and I remember seeing darkness," he recalled to 700 Club Interactive.
"And also fog on the floor, and on the ceilings. I went to a place where there was a black void.
"And I remember crying out to Jesus, ‘Jesus help me!’”
During his visions, he witnessed an image of a young version of his mother, who was washing her arm.

Jeff claims that this 'symbolised washing' and meant that he needed to 'for me to get clean up my act'.
After the near-death experience, he quit drinking and started to believe in God again.
He and his wife now run JNS Ministries and plan to open Galilean Fishing Lodge.

Jeff said: "The alcohol contributed immensely, so to my chronic depression. I was a binge drinker. I used to keep a bottle of tequila in the in the fridge. I would put it in the freezer so I wouldn't have to waste time with a shot glass. One time, I drank so much that I blacked out in the back of my house, in my utility room, and when I woke up, I didn't know where I was in my own home."
His wife added: "I was always fearful for Jeff's safety when he was drinking, especially I didn't want him to be in an accident and I didn't want him to be somewhere where he was just passed out and not able to take care of himself.
"I never stopped praying for Jeff. I knew that he could be better than the alcoholism and the man that he was becoming. I knew he was better than that."

On the car accident, he added: "It honestly sounded like an explosion. I blacked out. I vaguely remember hearing the car skidding."
