Bloke who got Tesco Clubcard tattooed on arm considering getting Sainsbury’s Nectar card

He said he has 'no regrets' about the tattoo and he's thinking of getting another for when he shops at Sainsbury's

A bloke who got his Tesco Clubcard inked on his skin is thinking of getting a tattoo of his Sainsbury's Nectar card.

Dean Mayhew, from Bideford, Devon, decided to get the QR code for his Tesco loyalty card tattooed on his wrist last July, and he's been using it twice daily ever since - as well as sending photos of it to friends and family so they can use it too.

And while the tat is obviously very daft, the scaffolder adores it.

"I still use it all the time. I love the tattoo so much," Dean said.

"Sometimes when I go in there, the cashier doesn't believe it's real - I have to tell them 'just scan it please!' and they're shocked.

£200 well spent.

"Everything's going up in price so I'm always making sure I get it scanned now.

"With the points, I'm going to save them up and save towards the cost of Christmas."

But despite all of that scanning, he's only saved up £18 of points so far, meaning he's still £182 and many big Tesco shops off paying off the tattoo.

So yeah, if you're thinking of getting a tattoo of your Clubcard as some sort of shrewd investment (which you obviously aren't), you may want to reconsider.

And while the tattoo means he needn't worry about remembering his card, he does have to make sure he keeps his arm hairs nicely trimmed so it doesn't block the barcode - which you'd think is probably more of a nuisance than just keeping your card in your wallet.

However, while the novel tattoo seemingly hasn't really saved him any time or money, the 31-year-old is thinking of getting a tattoo of his Sainsbury's Nectar card too.

Nectar card next baby.

"I could use the one on my phone but I want to use the one on my arm as it's funny," he reasoned.

Fair enough Deano.

The dad-of-three said he'd been considering his Clubcard tattoo for months before heading to A Star Tattoo studio in Surrey to get it done. And although you may not be feeling compelled to follow in his footsteps, Deano has no regrets.

"Sometimes for presents, in the toy section things will be half the price when you get a Clubcard discount," he said.

"I've also done in the past where I've gone to Tesco and done a big shop, and the points I saved up would take it down by half.

"It will help out a lot, especially this year, with everything going up in price. I definitely don't regret getting the tattoo."
