Big belts, velour tracksuits and low-waist jeans - Gen Z seems to have been loving reviving 00’s fashion in their style.
And yet, there’s still plenty of millennial clothing trends they say they will ‘never understand’.
From cancelling the beloved skinny jeans to saying you’re ‘officially old’ if you go out in a certain type of shoe, the youngens certainly love slamming our style.

But one of their fashion gripes is really bringing it down the fine detail. Down on the ground.
Apparently, it shows your age if you do a very specific thing with your socks. I bet any millennial reading this can already guess exactly what it is.
Ok, so, you’re wearing a pair of trainers and don’t want your socks to show over the top.

So what do you do? Buy a set of socks low enough they can’t be seen. No, obviously not.
As many millennials will know, the correct answer is of course to fold down your existing, longer socks and cram them into your shoes so they’re hidden away.
Yeah, just as uncomfortable and ridiculous as it sounds but plenty of us can admit to doing this on a regular basis.
And one TikTok user shared a video of her makeshift socks as she wrote: “Millennials in the 2000s DIY’ing our own ankle socks from crew socks’.

Phoebe Fitish wrote in the caption: “Gen Z’s will never understand the discomfort of our millennial DIY ankle socks and how many blisters we were constantly left with.”
And plenty of people admitted in the comments: “’85 baby and I admit, I still do this occasionally.”
Others confessed: “Literally did this with my socks yesterday and today.”

As one wrote: “Thanks for the reminder of this sensory nightmare.”
Many said: “I’m still doing this,” as another even put: “Smart people put the sock on inside out so when it was folded the good side faced out.”
It seems Gen Z don’t have time for ankle socks and would rather opt for the crew style.

Yep, shock, horror, they actually want us to be able to see their socks over the trainers.
Gen Z reporter Snake Deton told Vogue Business: “Millennials used to turn up their skinny jeans and show their ankles. That’s the look I associate pop socks with. But that sh*t is anathema for people in their teens and twenty-somethings.”
Well, if you wanna stay young, it seems you’ve got to hide those ankles lads.
