A woman was left furious after she spent a load of cash on a new sofa only for it to arrive as two sofas that had seemingly been combined together.
They were completely different colours, for starters.
She’d ordered the sofa from Argos for nearly £500 but received what she’s called a ‘frankensofa’ that is half one colour and half another.
Sara and her husband Greg Hudgell were excited to take delivery of their new sofa on January 29, having ordered it a matter of days earlier.
However, that excitement quickly dissipated when they realised that they’d been sent a sofa that was certainly not as they’d seen it advertised.
It’s half-charcoal and half-beige, apparently.
When they realised the mistake, the couple assumed that it must be a mix-up and called the delivery driver.
He told them that it wasn’t a mistake, and that they’d have to get in touch with Argos if they wanted to progress it further.
Once they did that, Sara claims that they told her that it was out of stock and she had the options to keep the couch, return it, or pay the difference between it and another model.
Mum Sara also said that she was offered an ‘insulting’ £30 by way of ‘compensation’.
She claims that the whole thing has been a ‘complete shambles’.
Now, she says that she has been ‘stuck upstairs’ with her three-week-old son for fear of marking the furniture before it is collected.
Swansea resident Sara said: "I'm still stuck upstairs because of this, I'm so angry. You couldn't make it up, it's just a complete shambles.
"The last sofa we had was just a small one we got off Facebook Marketplace to tide us over.
"As we don't have the space for two sofas in our living room we had already got rid of the other sofa and I'd spent the last couple of days sitting on the bed upstairs."
"Greg unwrapped one part of the sofa and saw it was the wrong colour and shouted up to me, then he unwrapped the other half and saw it was the right colour.”
On Facebook, she had earlier complained: "Argos where can I buy one of these Frankenstein sofas?”
Argos has said that they’re collecting and refunding the sofa as the family’s experience did ‘not meet their usual high standards’.
