A neighbour has been called out for leaving ‘blinding lights’ on all night long, with many comparing the setup to a prison.
While we all like to feel safe in our homes, the owner of this property has arguably gone a step too far.
Alongside the glaring lights, one of the shared images shows the house surrounded by what looks like a makeshift wall.

Reddit user mbardeen posted the snaps, writing: “My neighbor put up new lights around his property and runs them all night long.”
Under the first pic, which shows the system up close, they said: “We live in the suburbs and our bedroom faces this.”
In the second photo you can see the lights blazing in the distance, with the Redditor adding that it was taken ‘a mile away and through the fog’.

Thousands of people have responded to the now-viral post, which was uploaded last month.
“Is your neighbour a prison?” quipped one, while another joked, “Planning for a zombie invasion, perhaps?”
Plenty of other ideas were thrown around, including the owner’s property being used as a football field, a running track or a cult HQ.
A number of commenters shared their words of advice while in disbelief over the unusual situation.

“At the very least they could send an email and include anyone they think might care: mayor, city council, heads of public works, inspection, maybe even a city attorney,” said one.
“Someone in a position of power would have to look at that and think either an ordinance needs to be enforced, or they need to create a new one.
“Just reaching out can be surprisingly effective, especially since this negatively impacts a lot of residents and makes their city look bad.”
In response to one comment, the OP explained that the spotlighted estate is just over a hectare of land in size, and is situated in rural/suburban Chile.

They said there are ‘lax zoning laws’ in the area, adding: “It's actually a house with adjoining property used for pre-fab house construction.
“Pretty sure he doesn't live there, 'cause there's no way he could sleep with that much light.”
Another commenter wrote: “Zoning laws or not those spotlights are facing away from his house outside his property. There’s a possible civil suit there.

“It’s one thing if some light bleeds into another’s yard it’s entirely another to illuminate the surrounding area.”
No news on whether the issue has been sorted yet - or whether the neighbour really was hosting a new cult.
