In September 2019, Steven Weber tragically died after proposing to his girlfriend, Kenesha Antoine, underwater.
The US pair were on a special holiday in Tanzania where they were staying in a submerged cabin at a resort.
To make up what should have been a happy, unforgettable moment for the couple, Steven swam up to the window outside their room to make the romantic proposal.

However, the message he held up from inside a plastic bag ended up being his final words as he sadly drowned.
Kenesha later posted a heartbreaking response on Facebook as she never got to give him his ‘yes’.
She’d filmed Steven’s romantic gesture, as he swam up to the window to press up the letter he’d kept safely in a plastic bag.

“I can't hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But… everything I love about you, I love more every day!” it read on one side, before he turned it over to reveal: “Will you marry me?”

Steven had pulled out a box from his swimming trunks, revealing the ring before swimming out of view from the video.
When Kenesha reportedly went up to the deck level of the structure (which was anchored to the seafloor by cables), her boyfriend never surfaced.
Officials reported at the time that a man had ‘tragically drowned while free diving alone outside the underwater room’.
It was said that when staff responded to a ‘problem in the water’, they found that ‘absolutely nothing could be done’.
Kenesha shared the clip of Steven’s proposal on Facebook as she shared her heartbreaking response to him.

“There are no words adequate enough to honour the beautiful soul that is Steven Weber, Jr. You were a bright light to everyone you encountered,” she wrote. “And you brought so much joy to so many people.”

Kenesha went on to call him ‘kind’ and ‘compassionate’ as she continued: “You regularly made me cry with laughter, and you showered me with a love like none I’d ever experienced.
“You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, ‘Yes! Yes! A million times yes, I will marry you!!
“We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruellest twist of fate imaginable.

“I will try to take solace in the fact that we enjoyed the most amazing bucket list experiences these past few days, and that we both were so happy and absolutely giddy with excitement in our final moments together.”
