McDonald's abroad might have some fancy menu items, but a Michelin chef has proved that nowhere does it like the UK as he named one of our own McDonald's as the world's best.
It's the homegrown potatoes, isn't it? No other fries like 'em.
Of course, there are a lot of similarities between McDonald's restaurants across the globe - they're all part of the same chain, after all. You've got a good chance of getting your hands on a burger no matter where the Golden Arches are, and yet some just do it better than others.

One of Wales' best chefs, Gareth Ward, made this clear as he described one particular UK McDonald's location as being 'on a different level'.
The chef runs Ynyshir, a Michelin-star restaurant in Wales which encourages customers to 'arrive with your mind open, ready for an immersive culinary experience in our home'.
At the restaurant, hungry customers can 'expect fire, intense world flavours and the best meat and fish from around the globe'.

Sounds exquisite, but it's not a Maccies. There's a time and a place for fancy foods, and Ward knows it.
In an interview with Wales Online, the chef detailed some of his favourite restaurants which included contemporary eatery Baravin in Aberystwyth, which apparently makes a great Caesar salad, and Caersws fish bar for some good fish and chips.
"The guy [who runs Caersws], he's super passionate. He makes like koji fried chicken. He's like fermenting stuff. He's just doing all sorts and he's doing sourdough batter and all that kind of stuff," Ward said of the chippy.

"What he does is really cool. It's class," Ward said, though he made clear he likes to keep it simple with a go-to order of fish and chips with mushy peas, with 'loads of salt, loads of vinegar and then ketchup'.
A man after my own heart, Ward went on to continue sharing his love of good, simple food as he branded a McDonald's in Welshpool the best of the best.
"You're going to laugh at this," he said, "Welshpool McDonald's. I'm telling you now, Welshpool McDonald's is on a different level. It's just got different [elements] to everyone else. [It's] just absolutely smashing it. Last time I had a crispy chicken and it definitely had [something like] truffle mayonnaise on it."

Ward went on to admit that he didn't really think McDonald's was cracking out the truffles, but insisted it 'tasted like it did'.
"Everybody I speak to says this is, by far, the best McDonald's in the world. Welshpool McDonald's that's what it's all about," he said.
So that's what Ward thinks, but we all know there's really only one thing that will prove whether Welshpool McDonald's really is the world's best: does it have a working ice cream machine?
