Bigfoot has been caught on camera, if this man's footage is to be believed.

Described by some as the 'best footage ever recorded' of the otherwise mythical creature, the man has been hailed for catching the peculiar monster in the woods. You can view the footage here:

Bigfoot, sometimes thought of as a type of animal but commonly referred to as Sasquatch in Canada and America, is a large and hairy ape-like creature that is said to roam the woods.

There have been hundreds of photos and videos that claim to show the figure making its way across the North American wilderness over the years, but it is thought that evidence from a man named Josh Highcliff stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Josh uploaded the harrowing footage he captured to YouTube in October 2013, which has since gone viral with over 1.3 million views since then.

He labelled the video 'I think i saw a skunk ape - please help', seeking guidance from the online community, with a 'skunk ape' also known as the Florida Bigfoot, which is believed to roam southeastern US states.

Josh revealed that the footage was taken approximately nine miles west of Tunica, Mississippi, on his hunting property - as he was out 'hunting dogs'.

Despite assuming it was an animal at first, he noticed its big shoulders, hands and head, before running off in horror.

"My first instinct was to run, I did not even think of shooting... then I know no one will believe me," he wrote.

"It was like everything slowed down... I was scared! I took out my iPhone and started videotaping it... I guess I pushed the record button twice cause it stopped blinking red but I pushed it again.

"I hear a truck driving down the road and the thing stood up! I was trying to be dead quiet... when it stood up I could not control myself and ran."

Josh went on to explain that he guessed the size of the being to be around seven feet tall.

Although it's been a good few years since he shared the sighting, people continue to comment on the video to say it's the best of its kind.

One wrote: "Honestly, this is probably the best footage ever recorded. Amazing that it’s not talked about more."

Another said in 2021: "THE BEST VIDEO TO DATE. AND IT'S 8 YEARS OLD! Congratulations Josh. You've held the record for some time now."

"It looks so natural, like it's in its element," added a third. "When you hear the crack of the wood when it rips it out it sounds like it's got some real strength.

"Pretty convincing... one of the best BF videos I've seen."

A fourth chimed in: "I think it's safe to say that this is actually one of the most real Bigfoot video out there.

"This doesn't look like some guy in a suit ripping a tree apart. That's some of the brute force right there. Ripping a tree ain't easy.

"This is definitely 100 percent real footage to me. No CGI, no video editing just pure Bigfoot video and I love it."
