A man who bought a 'creepy' puppet from a famous music video was left horrified because of how different it looked.
You might be old enough to remember when American rock band Interpol dropped the music video for their song 'Evil' back in 2005.
In the video, a life-sized puppet can be seen in hospital after being involved in a car crash - bear with me here.
As human doctors examine the puppet, it randomly breaks into a dance on the operating table, which makes the whole thing even more weird.
Now, in 2014, the puppet has resurfaced in an online auction, and it was listed as the 'animatronic creepy ghoul puppet from music video'.
Sadly for fans, it had deteriorated so much that not a single bid was placed.
The puppet was wrecked (YouTube) Some years later, the puppet gained a cult following and was named 'Norman', after John Kolbek acquired it from another online auction.
The state it was in, however, proved to be too much of a shock, as Kolbek did a box opening online.
In 2021, he initiated a GoFundMe campaign called 'Let's save Norman!' to raise money for a restoration process.
"Remember the music video Evil from 2004? Sure, we all do! That lovable (sometimes creepy) puppet that the fans grew to love and call 'Norman?'" he wrote.
"Well, he's had a rough 17 years. Being passed around as a Halloween ornament, to ending up in someone's storage shed.
What Norman used to look like (YouTube) "The good news is, he's found a new caring home. the bad news is, he's pretty messed up.
"BUT with your help, and the help of Lunas Puppets, we can fully restore him back to his former glory!"
A year later, the page raised $3,145, and the GoFundMe was disabled.
In the comments, one woman who donated said: "I donated because I saw the video and liked it, and somehow stumbled into this little rabbit hole, where Norman was lost and found again, and I honestly want to see more of him in the future; see how his story develops after the wreck in the Evil Music Video."
Another added: "I'd love to see Norman back in his original state. Interpol is my favourite band so this little guy means a lot to me. Good luck!"
Someone who donated a whopping $352 said: "I donated because... that's what heroes do! You can be a hero too! Just donate a buck or two!"
