A woman who admitted to eating her late husband's ashes after finding out about his infidelity has left people absolutely stunned.
The Canadian widow penned a candid memoir about her situation, which was released in July this year to generally favourable reviews.
Mother and author Jessica Waite was married to her husband for years before his death in 2015, which happened during a work trip to Texas, US.

The book was affectionately called A Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards, where Waite recalled how she found out about all of her husband's unfaithful acts following his death, leaving her shocked and broken.
It all began when she opened his iPad to search for the number for the Houston hospital that was holding his body, which caused her to inadvertently stumble across his terrifying browser history.
While typing the work 'Houston' into the search bar, it auto-filled to 'Houston escorts', and following some deeper digging, Waite found that there were also searches for certain escorts, with prices and locations.

It was a gut-wrenching discovery for the widow.
Beyond this, she found that he regularly met with escorts and cheated on her with numerous women, while lying about working late on some days and instead downloaded hundreds of pornographic videos to his computer, which were carefully categorised into different folders.
Waite even discovered that he was renting an apartment in Colorado, where he would have sex with escorts and also pick up women.

The sobering discovery was hard to come to terms with for Waite, as she could not accept her husband's secret double life after years together.
With emotions running high, she cut open the bag of his ashes and mixed them with her dog's faeces in her garden - but that wasn't all.
She wrote: “I’ve desecrated the remains of my partner in life. But then, in despair and guilt, took more of his ashes — and actually ate them.
"The remains feel dry against my fingertips, coarser than baking powder, grainier than salt. They mix with the teary water, a mineral mud on the back of my tongue. I swallow."

She did later admit that she was 'detached from reality in the wake of her spouse's death' when she carried these actions out.
On Instagram, users shared their opinions on her eating the ashes, with one branding it as 'disgusting', and another labelling it as a 'bizarre situation'.
A different user commented: "If [he] cheated, you should have flushed it," and a fourth joked: "She wanted to poop him out and flush him goodbye."

Waite later revealed that she now has a new partner, though she does continue to feel the pain of being betrayed by the man she was with for so long, day in, day out.
“I feel better and stronger than before, but I still cry almost every day, and I still feel like a part of me has died,” she admitted.
“Because the part of me that existed within Sean did.”
