Living near a noisy roundabout might not sound as bad as actually living in the middle of one.
The roundabout in Penywaun, Wales happens to be located between Aberdare and Hirwaun just south of the A465 Heads of the Valleys road.

In the middle of the roundabout - which joins Lawrence Avenue to the west with Arfryn to the north and south - are the unmissable Waunllwyd flats.
There is no formal road crossing, and cars can't be parked on the kerb next to the flats.
Only two of the nine flats have entrances at 'street level, as the other seven are behind the usual locked door with a buzzer.

It's hard to argue against Resident Chelsea who 'can't wait' to move out of the block of nine flats.
"It's a bit strange. I've lived here for two years, and you just get used to it," Chelsea said.
She says it's 'hard work' living on the roundabout and that there's a constant worry about the speedy traffic coming towards it.
"The cars come down the hill at a pace and the school buses too, because there's a comprehensive nearby, so there's about 10 school buses," she said.

It may have started off as 'as a bit of a joke' but the UK's Roundabout Appreciation Society has transitioned from a 'Roundabouts of Redditch' calendar in 2003 to a worldwide appreciation and a nationwide collective of traffic circle fanatics.

Without going round in circles, President of the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society, Kevin Beresford - whose nickname is the 'Lord of the Rings' - has since opened up about what it is about roundabouts which really gets him ticking - or turning.
Having since developed his original 'Roundabouts of Redditch' calendar to the best in Britain and later to include the best in the world, Kevin told Confused.com how his 'passion' began.

He explains: "I ran a small printers in Redditch New Town. We wanted to come up with a calendar which was totally unique.
"It just went ballistic and sold worldwide, so I started taking an interest - a genuine interest.
"The interest grew into - I'm not going to say an obsession - a passion. Artists have always focused on the mundane.
"People might see a roundabout as mundane, but they are blank canvases."
